Call for Workshop Proposals
We are excited to announce that Lander, Wyoming will host the 2010 AEE Rocky Mountain Regional Conference. The conference will be held at the Pronghorn Lodge and up and down Lander's Main Street, giving conference-goers an excellent opportunity to get to know our little mountain town. We look forward to seeing you in Lander next year!
The deadline for workshop proposals is January 30, 2010. Proposals will only be accepted through the online application process. Please note that this deadline has been set in an attempt to create a more efficient evaluation process and to allow us to have presenters' names and topics on the registration brochure as early as possible.
We welcome workshop proposals on any topic associated with experiential education practice or research. Our selection criteria will value achieving a balance of workshop themes and target populations. We desire workshops for beginners, as well as seasoned practitioners, workshops that challenge mainstream convention and those that creatively define traditional practices. Schools and colleges themes, adventure therapy, interpersonal and technical facilitation skills, wilderness work, standards of practice, the use of arts and creativity, evaluation, experience-based training and development, program management, social and global justice concerns, and legal issues related to our field are among the topics we will look to offer.
We are encouraging student presentations again this year. If you are an undergraduate professor hoping to bring student presenters that you may not encounter until next semester, you may submit a proposal for them.
You can expect notification about the status of your proposal by the end of February. The workshop abstract you submit will be printed in the conference program, subject to editorial changes deemed necessary to comply with brochure criteria.
One presenter per workshop will be offered a reduced "Presenter's Registration Fee." Additional presenters are required to register at the standard conference rates. We ask applicants to observe the following guidelines:
- Submit no more than two proposals
- Send handouts (i.e., PPT or Word) to mailto:jstrickl@regis.edu by March 15, 2010 (we're attempting to cut down on paper)
- Note: LCD Projectors, screens, flipcharts and markers will be provided. Presenters must make arrangements for other needs.
